My kids started school a few weeks ago. One's in 4th grade the other in 3rd. Things have changed so much since I was a kid in school. The way they teach all the way to the stuff they have to know, by a certain grade. I understand that our state wants to make the schools look good, but they are really pushing the kids to learn more at a younger age. I hate it! I think my kids are so burned out by the time they get home from school, who wants to do 4 or 5 pages of homework??!! I know I DON'T! Unfortunetly for me and my kids, they hate homework too.
I try to help them, after a huge fight just to get them to sit down and attempt to look at the papers. I have to admit I am dumbfounded when I look at some of this crap. What the HELL are they teaching these kids???? I always said, "Why do I need to lean this, anyway? I'll never use it in the real world!" Well, now I know why. So I can help my kids with their homework. Yeah, well, NO!
As, I was attempting to help my son with some homework the other day, it was plural nouns, which I still know about, thank God. Movie Man, being the smart ass that he is, told me I was doing it wrong.
MM: "Mom!! you just don't know how to do this. That's not how the teacher told me to do it."
ME: "Look, I KNOW how to do it!!"
MM: "No mom, your just not smart anymore!"
Great, now my 8 yr old kid, thinks I'm an idiot! Shit, I was doing so well too.
